Samsung SCX-4200 Printer - Mr Plod - 02-20-2014 I am trying to install a Samsung SCX-4200 laser printer. I have checked out the Samsung site and it doesn't show a linux driver. I've also trolled the internet for the last 3 days and the only thing I can come up with is 'Splix'. I had a look at the install guide and it might as well be in Japanese :-\ Can anyone walk me though acquiring and installing a driver for this big lump of plastic & metal that is sat in the corner occupying valuable living space? Thanks...... I've attached a system info doc, because I can! Not that it matters too much... but, just out of interest is the same thing available for the scanner? Re: Samsung SCX-4200 Printer - shaggytwodope - 02-20-2014 There is a slightly outdated thread for this on ubuntu (which is the base for LL) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=341621 which points to http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/ But reading the thread will give you exactly what you want I believe. It's very hard to find exact instructions not owning the actual hardware. Re: Samsung SCX-4200 Printer - Mr Plod - 02-20-2014 I'll look into the scanner at some time in the future. The main thing was to get my Printer working. Once Again Thank You Mel. Re: Samsung SCX-4200 Printer - Teddy - 02-20-2014 You can also try installing the Windows drivers in Wine, and try to print a test page with it. A more reliable way for me is using VirtualBox (with Windows XP) if you cannot get that printer / scanner working under Linux natively. The scanner probably will not work natively under Linux, as my Canon Pixma MX410 (Good Cheap $70 All-In-One) doesn't work with scanning, but printing works beautifully. It might be worth the shot to try a program called Simple Scan and see if it recognizes that Samsung Scanner. Hope it goes well. Teddy. |
