There are several reasons to upgrade to the next release. You get additional features and it's so darn easy to upgrade within the 3.x series. No reinstall is required.
LL 3.6 reaches end of life April 2021 and yes, this LTS lasts 5 years because of the Ubuntu 16.04 basis. But there really isn't any good reason not to go to LL 3.8, which is also supported until April 2021.
