Repository Request Waterfox - TuxInAGalaxy - 12-23-2017

Before I started this thread I looked to see if anyone mentioned the web browser Waterfox.  I found this:  https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/on-topic/waterfox-browser/msg37268/#msg37268  What is discussed has nothing to do with why I'm requesting this.  Bryan Lunduke has been covering the issues with Mozilla.  So far it appears that the best alternative to Firefox is Waterfox.  I've been using it more than Firefox and all the plugins I need to work, works great!  Least I can say about the current Firefox.  Can we please have Waterfox added to the Repositories?

Link to the Bryan Lunduke Video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMALm1VthGY

Here is how I currently install Waterfox:

To install waterfox: Add repository and gpg key from: https://github.com/hawkeye116477/waterfox-deb
then do:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install waterfox

PS:  I'm really sorry about how long Bryan talks....  I wish he would get to the point quicker.  But He does at least get to the point.  I'll give him that much.

Unlikely.  Too niche and unfamiliar to a user coming to Linux for the first time from Windows.  It will be a turnoff to that target audience.

Torreydale is right. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Perhaps that youtuber should drop System76 as a sponsor. They develop PopOS that ships with Firefox.

Chromium, Midori, Epiphany, etc.... so many fully open-source alternatives already.  It's nice that there are other ones joining the fun, like Brave and Waterfox et al.  But adding more and more PPAs to Linux Lite is unwise as far as "best practices" are concerned.

I think your wrong because Waterfox behaves just like old Firefox.  Quantum hasn't been out that long.  I don't really see the point in picking on Bryan Lunduke for using System 76 and POP OS.  Almost all the different Linux distros either come preloaded with Firefox, Chromium, or Chrome.  The issues with Mozilla is a relatively new development.  The idea behind Waterfox is to remove some of the codes that might be hurting our browser privacy.  Also it works with some old pluggins that won't work under the new Firefox Quantum.  I myself have been using an old pluggin.  Waterfox helps me keep it going until I can find or learn a better alternative.

Totally agree there. I been thinking of getting an new rig  and was thinking system76 or zareason . I would careless for pop and I would install something different on it anyways
