Inserting links as words/phrases/sentences in place of the https://www.link - Moltke - 10-17-2017 Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! ![]() In the first line you noticed that the word "post" points to gold_finger's tutorial link on the forum, for that I did the following: First, I clicked on toggle view button ![]() Then I selected that word ![]() Next, I clicked on insert Hyperlink button ![]() Finally, I copied and pasted the link into the new window ![]() Maybe some/most of you know this but since I didn't find anything in the forum about it, I thought of having some fun creating this tuto which I hope you'd found useful ![]() ![]() EDIT: The problem was the service I was using to share the image, Imgur only allows to share the link to its site where the image's been uploaded to view. So I tried a different one This site offers the possibility to copy a bbcode link so you can insert your image directly into your post ![]() Re: Inserting links as words/phrases/sentences in place of the https://www.link - bitsnpcs - 10-17-2017 Hello Moltke, info how to add url to an image here - https://www.phpbb.com/community/help/bbcode#f4r0 Re: Inserting links as words/phrases/sentences in place of the https://www.link - Moltke - 10-17-2017 (10-17-2017, 06:29 PM)bitsnpcs link Wrote:Hello Moltke,Hi [member=411]bitsnpcs[/member] Thanks for the link. If I get it right, following the method described in that site, unless I host the image it won't be visible in the post, right? Sharing images through a site such as Imgur does not share the image itself but only the link to its site where the image's been uploaded to view. Am I missing something here? What I wanted to do was to post the image directly into the post so users/readers could see it without having to leave the forum to Imgur, but I couldn't do that. ![]() Re: Inserting links as words/phrases/sentences in place of the https://www.link - bitsnpcs - 10-18-2017 Hello [member=7109]Moltke[/member] , you use the IMG tags to display the image on the forum. 1/ You upload the image to the image host 2/ they give you a link url 3/ you put the link in your forum post and add IMG and /IMG before and after the link url in your forum post, the IMG tags need to be inside square brackets [...] and [/...], where dots are the characters. 4/ then click post Then your image will appear on the forum post. The above process it is "hotlinking", it is not the illegal bandwidth theft hotlinking, but it likely was born from utilizing that idea. Currently I use this image host - https://imgbb.com/ You do not need to join it, do not need to login to it, do not need any account to use it, it is free to use, and free of adverts, it is clean and tidy lines/layout, and so is very fast loading and processing in the browser.
