I have no idea how difficult this would be or if it even could be done.
Could there be an installation option to use the installer in Ubuntu Minimal CD? There would be no software choices step but instead just automatically install stock Linux Lite. This would not eliminate anything in Linux Lite but would give an option to install from a CD.
I had to use Ubuntu Minimal CD because I could not get the old computer to boot from USB and it did not have a DVD drive. I did not want to put a DVD drive in it.
If this is not possible, could I add a Linux Lite repo in Synaptic and change it from Xubuntu to Linux Lite?

At one point I was going to ask that question. I did it for Xubuntu one time. Takes longer with all the downloads, but you get all the latest packages when the install is complete. Could be intimidating for folks not used to Linux as it starts out as a graphical installer. At less than 60mb for an install medium it's an attractive alternative.

I am thinking of this option as not for newbies but those of us who have been using Linux for awhile to install Linux Lite for newbies with old computers.

Using a minimal build of Linux Lite as described above that would fit on a CD then downloading from LL repos, etc. the rest of the programs would have allowed me to install LL on the old computer. Is this possible? :-\

I have wondered myslef if something like Bodhi's installer interface would work, install apps from web interface after CD size base system installation.

It's certainly possible. It takes 100's of hours of research first though, to be competent enough to attempt it. Advanced users could easily achieve this.

A CD install would be nice, I had problems installing LL on a CD-ROM only and no USB boot machine. Bodhi installer (CD version) was not able to install and just squeaking the CD for hours. Ok, was a Pentium3 laptop with 512MB but still
- Had to take out the HDD and install Linux from another PC.Anyhow, maybe a "Linux Lite Light/Pure/Core/Naked" version without Libre Office and FireFox *but* added in the "Lite Software" module and linked to the "Lite Welcome" would user friendly enough AND able to fit on a CD.
Just giving ideas and maybe this method would be a less time consuming task for Jerry?
