Hi evryone - I need help already! - pingball57 - 08-09-2017

Hi, I thought I better say hello before asking for help, so 'Hello' everyone.
I've two problems - one with an install of LL 3.4 (32bit) on a 'new to me' acer Aspire one (c.2008) in which the WiFi no longer works post install & the other- this 'new to me' HP 15 series laptop (c.2014) running Win10 that doesn't even want recognise the live USB. I'll post separately in the relavent sections starting with the Acer as that acctually has LL on it. CHeers.

Re Windows 10 machine, You may need to disable secure boot/uefi and enable legacy boot.  More on this is in the Install Guide of the Help Manual www.freecinema2022.gq/manual.
Re AA1 this link might help https://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=10813.0

On the AA1 can you give details of the exact model number and possibly info on the wifi  from  the result of  menu/system information/devices/PCI Devices

For your wifi problem open a terminal and enter:
sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf

add the following lines to the file:
[device]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no

Exit and save. Wifi will work.

Thanks everyone. you seem to have missed my comment that I'd be putting this as a post in the relavent section. never mind.
SO far I've tried:
1. 'trinidad's' suggestion = no joy, so I've removed it.
2.newtusmaximus - from your link: removing the battery - pressing the start button -replacing battery, restarting = no joy.
3. post in Network secn: running inxi -F & relavent part of my reply is: I've run the code anyway. I'm assumng you wanted the network info which is:
card-1: Broardcom BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY  Driver: b43-pci-bridge
IF: n/a  state: n/a  mac: n/a
card-2: Qualcomm Atheros AR8132 Fast Ethernet  Driver: ath1c
IF: enp3s0  State: down  mac: 70:5a:b6:04:0e:07

Also the M/c details are: Acer Aspire one. Mod.no: KAV60 (V: V1.29) yr.2010

Computers & I don't seem to mix well... doing all this has taken ages.

Did you install from a wired connection? I'm not asking here whether or not wifi worked with installation, but if you installed from a wired connection.

My lappy's Broadcom wifi wouldn't work either until I opened Synaptic and removed bcmw-kernel-source and installed b43-firmware-installer.

I mentioned this in just another posting.  I have found the Netgear wifi adapters have been found in all the Linux OS's I have installed.  When not using this adapter, I do have to install the broadcom setup to make the on-board adapter work and it required an ethernet connection to make it work.My favorite Netgear adapter is a WNA1000M series.
