Software Updates Fail - Terminal Won't Launch - mmcglynn - 08-07-2017
Updates fail with the following error. Terminal will not launch, so none of the fixes or diagnostic in the forum can be done.
What can I do?

Install Updates could not successfully download and install available updates.

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

Ultimately you need to run the following command in terminal...

sudo dpkg --configure -aSince terminal is not opening... Try the below ways to open in the meanwhile...
Ways to open Terminal:

- [size=1em]using the terminal icon in the bottom left of the panel.[/size]
- [size=1em]using ctrl-alt-t.[/size]
- [size=1em]from Menu and type lxterminal - "Run lxterminal"[/size]
