Google is not to be trusted anyway... privacy issues, tracking, etc.  I'm sticking with Seamonkey

Take it from someone who spent over 2 years on Chromebooks, this is no surprise.
Even using the Google Search page is troublesome for me, now.

This is probably due to Android O pending release. Last preview is past.
