GUI video with sound - CaperAsh - 07-03-2017 I want to make some you-tube style videos - guy talking into the computer, i.e. with capture from webcam and sound. I have googled and tried a few things like cheese and the guvcview in the LL software, but nothing works. Is there a simple program out there that can help me do this? I am not sure what such things are called and suspect haven't been getting good search results. Or: can I get help in getting guvcview to run without error message on starting up. ' could not start a video stream on the device'. Cheese works fine, but has no audio. I cannot use Skype because somebody hijacked my email and Skype won't let me cancel that account and am not interested in making a new email address just for skype. Re: GUI video with sound - supergamer - 07-03-2017 Try this: https://askubuntu.com/questions/297973/how-to-make-a-video-for-youtube-on-linux They use VLC to do it. I do not do this so take this with a grain of salt please. Re: GUI video with sound - CaperAsh - 07-29-2017 I either didn't get or missed your response. Sorry. I tried that but couldn't get anywhere. Isn't there an app that people use so that you can record yourself and see what you are saying and looking like at the same time? The guvcview that comes with LL only shows a picture, no sound. There must be something, like Skype, that does both. I just don't know what such programs are called nor, therefore, what to search for. Re: GUI video with sound - bitsnpcs - 07-29-2017 It have many webcam software infos here - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Webcam Re: GUI video with sound - CaperAsh - 08-08-2017 Thanks. That's all way too complicated for me. I am hoping for a simple application with GUI that allows the user to make videos with pictures and sounds using the built-in webcam and microphone in a laptop so that I can talk into the computer screen and record it. I'll get there one day. At some point I might even find out what doing this is called (don't yet know what to google for!). But this is a good example of what I find a little frustrating with Linux. Sometimes it's overly complicated to do simple things that people with Macs or PC's do right out of the box without thinking twice about it. Re: GUI video with sound - firenice03 - 08-08-2017 [member=3540]CaperAsh[/member] I think you're just about there but don't know it... ![]() The built in guvcview should accomplish what you're looking for..
