/var/log/llupdates.log error when updating - kat - 04-19-2017

Hi, Guys, newbie here. I failed to update for a couple of months, and when I recently did, 115 updates appeared, but they failed to install. It popped up a box with this error, "/var/log/llupdates.log". I restarted the computer, but the updates still did the same thing. I ran  Lite Tweaks, and it popped up an error, which it usually doesn't. Of course, I know to choose the safe boxes in Lite Tweaks. So, what should I do about the updates error? Is there a terminal command to straighten that out?

Consider entering the following into a terminal one line at a time:

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get upgrade

Torreydale,
thanks so much. Sorry I haven't responded to your answer about the update failure pop ups - been a bit side tracked and busy. I will try that terminal command as soon as I can.
                                              thanks!

Hi, Torreydale, A week has gone by since I was complaining about the var/log update error. A few days agoI went to that computer and tried to run the updates again. It did it fine! Amazing! I didn't even have to do the commands you set out for me. It just updated, and then I saw there was an upgrade, so everything went fine, I'm glad to say.
            Thanks again. Just had to tell you all is working great!

I get the same error message  "/var/log/llupdates.log" but I get disconnected from the Internet.

This happened before, so I reinstalled Linux Lite and checked my connection before I started installing updates.  Firefox worked fine but during the update process the error box appeared.

I tried running Lite Tweaks, but that requires an internet connection... so I'm kind of stuck

Can anyone help please?

BTW - newbie to Linux!

[member=5823]kat[/member],
Please mark this thread as solved.  If you need to reference the forum posting guidelines to do so, there is a link to it in the Support section of the Help Manual.

[member=6915]Spike[/member],
Please start a separate thread for your issue and provide more information.  Like whether you have a wired or wireless connection to the internet.  By the way, Lite Tweaks does not require an internet connection.

No need to start another thread - the install came right for me after a few attempts

Hi all,

For future reference, the latest lite-software update includes additional options to help users retrieve failure logs. (/var/log/llupdates.log error). Please do post your log if you come across updates issues. We have gone through those posts in the forum from users having issues updating and the vast majority of them is just temporary connectivity issues for which we have no control. That's why it has "magically" worked after few attempts for most users.

It is strongly recommended as mentioned in the documentation,  to switch to a closer mirror if you experience connectivity issues; also Software Updates Country Location.

Lite Sources will be added to LL to make it easier for users to switch repository mirrors with LL 3.6
