Cant boot after latest OS update - fred - 02-28-2017 Hi My LL has crashed. I recently updated the software which went without a hitch. I was prompted to do a restart which I immediately did... now the computer won’t boot. It starts and gets as far as the screen with the feather, then the screen goes blank and the keyboard LEDs (caps lock etc) flash on-off every second(ish). I started it in recovery mode (left shift key) and under “Advanced Options for Description” I successfully booted it in 4.4.0-62. The most recent version i.e. the one that crashes is 4.4.0-64. So it looks like something went wrong with the last update, is there a way to roll back to 4.4.0-62 and retry the latest update? Thanks. Re: Cant boot after latest OS update - firenice03 - 02-28-2017 Since you're in a working system (4.4.0-62) you can go into.. Lite Tweaks and use the Kernel Removal tool to remove 4.4.0-64.. Then you can rerun updates.. Prior to that I would run SystemBack making a restore point so should something go awry you have a backup as well... ** I am almost certain that is the location of the tool, I'm not in front of my LL box** ;D Re: Cant boot after latest OS update - fred - 03-05-2017 Thanks for the reply firenice03. Although a bit time consuming (make a change>reboot test>make a change>...), the process was a very easy. I had to remove everything back to 4.4.0-62 (4.4.0-65 generic etc and 4.4.0-64), 4.4.0-65 appeared on the list once I removed 4.4.0-64. I have a working system again. Thanks for your help Regards |
