Boot up problem - artemka - 02-11-2017

I am hoping someone can help me

I have an Asus Eee PC netbook which, between being nagged by Microsoft into a failed Windows 10 upgrade and then being abandoned by Asus, had no OS or desktop - the device was essentially dead. I ran 'Darik's Boot and Nuke' overnight which wiped the entire hard drive of everything, that got me a functioning machine - I burned Linux Lite onto a DVD using another computer, plugged in a USB DVD player into the netbook and quickly installed Linux Lite. I moved flawlessly onto the internet for updates, optional software etc and was really happy

However, when I restart it keeps asking me to plug in bootable media and hit any key. The boot up settings in BIOS are the hard drive first then the USB port. If I plug in the DVD drive 'bootable media' it reinstalls the Linux Lite from the start. So at the moment it only works until I switch the netbook off, then I have to start over

It seems that the Linux Lite has, somehow, not become bootable from the HDD ... any ideas ? I am certain I have done something wrong somewhere but have no clue on how to progress

Sounds like the BIOS is not recognizing your HDD yet, which can be caused by different things. Most likely you didn't reset (save) the BIOS config before and after zeroing the disc and you also have probably wiped the BIOS utility partition so you will have to do it manually.
