It probably occurs also if trying to access a "Windows share". Attempting to open ".odt" files on NAS causes LO Writer to appear momentarily then vanish. This is a reversion to behaviour in 2.0. Problem vanishes on installing libreoffice-gnome from System / Install/remove software (I have made a bug report.)
