What is the length of time of support for custom Linux Lite Kernels? - Ottawagrant - 06-16-2016

Now that you can change your kernel, to an excellent selection of 15 different kernels, it raises a question. According to kernel.org kernel 3.14 (for example) runs out of support this August. As the kernels in the repository are Linux Lite custom kernel's, are the LTS dates the same, longer, or shorter? The reason I ask is that I recently changed some older/less powerful computers running LL 3.0 to Linux Lite custom kernel 3.13.0. Thanks again to anyone with some information on this. Also thanks to Jerry & team for making kernel changes on Linux Lite so very easy.

Our Kernels are not LTS. Support for them is what is stated for the particular version eg. 3.14 support ends August. Our Kernels are from the 'Stable' branch.

My  trusty old Toshiba sat Pro A10 with 1 GB ram is struggling under LL3.0; getting slow response  ( Bit like the user I am afraid Smile ).  Hence am I to take it that Kernel 3.16  with an (EOL) end of life circa 2020 would be the best bet to try.  Forgive me , is 3.16 in the  LL Kernel library?  Tks (Checked- yes it is )

Alternatively , other than going back to LL2.8, how could I prune LL3.0 to make it run as it did  under LL2.0 but still getting LTS?

Best to start your own thread for that Smile
