network manager reporting not for all users keeps turning off - miken242 - 05-04-2016

can not find anywhere in the edits to allow for all users
very annoying as it shuts off frequently

any sugestions please

Please provide a more detailed description of your issue.  What edits ? Is the network manager itself shutting down or is it the network/wifi card ?

During a normal session the network manager after connecting on startup will disconnect the wifi with the error not for all users , and do so periodically which is frustrating during a download or forum visit.

On an old post (18mths) I found a similar fault which was fixed by allowing all users to be added by an edit to the  network connections in the wifi security , a box to be ticked,  the box is not there .

As it was an old post I wondered if there was now somewhere else to add the edit.

Other computers are not having the problem nor other distros

Perhaps supplying the link to where you found the similar? Along with the requests of the others...
But I'm going to assume... On your install of LL you have an admin account and at least a standard account (non-admin) and the dropping occurs on this non-admin account?

If you scroll down you'll see a screen shot of the "Available to all users" check box - you may want to try enabling/disabling this option?? This most likely needs to be done as the admin user..

I'm not in front of my LL box, so guessing on the location - let alone if its in LL , as this is an old Ubuntu post..
Choose the WiFi adapter, edit the connection, under the IPv4 tab...

I don't use Wifi and I don't know anything about it, but I replaced the network-manager by Wicd. It gives me the controls I need. I like it for years and I see Wifi-options in it.
It is doing great here.  Wink  Maybe I'm of help?

I used the Insert Code button to edit your post.  The inxi -F output is more easily read this way.

For your imgur image, you should really paste the BBCode of the image, not the link to the page with the image.  When you paste the BBCode of the image, the actual image is inserted into the forum.  I cannot access the imgur website during the day, so I won't be able to go to the link to see your screenshot until after hours.

I see you have multiple disks and partitions. Is Debian Jessie one of the other systems? Was it installed first? Depending on your BIOS version you may have a volume ownership problem concerning the wifi. More info is a better solution than abandoning the lite GUI. Something else is wrong. It is good practice that partitions should always be zeroed and marked as cleared, with no ownership, before any new Debian based installations, if Debian Jessie exists on the system first.
