IPv4 connection settings and proxy GUI's - thinman - 02-08-2016

i'm just done with my prior inquiries on remote connection, and here i am again asking help if there are GUI windows for IPv4 connection settings, as well, proxy settings in Linux Lite  :-\


i mean i'm more expose to Ubuntu in which if i add proxy, i just go to this window:

and if i put static IP or DNS, i also go on these window:

likewise, hoping also you can share the command lines both for IPv4 connection settings and proxy if i go or use to the terminal  :-[

To get to IPv4 settings, you can go to Menu > Settings > Network Connections, highlight your connection, and click on Edit.  Then you'll see a tab for IPv4 Settings.

For proxy settings, that is usually browser related and you'd need to go to the network settings for the browser you're using.

i'm fine with the Network Settings now  Smile


but does it mean that Linux Lite has no GUI for proxy settings like that in Ubuntu (like figure below)? which i think is more manageable lol  :-\

I haven't tested myself.. This maybe what you're looking for, just not named very friendly  Wink

Or as mentioned Browser (Firefox) / Preferences / Advanced / Network / Settings...

To get a gui option for controlling global proxy settings, you might need to install dconf-tools and/or dconf-editor.

and i think the one your showing to me is the Network Settings which is different from proxy settings but thanks for sharing the info  :-X


however, i just sorted it out (courtesy of torreydale) but it's not as elaborate as that from Ubuntu GUI in which it's so quick to manipulate  Sad


in Ubuntu, it looks like these:

the dropdown-button under Method has options of None, Manual, and Automatic  8)


but i think i'm contented of it for now  :Smile

you're right that it needs dconf-editor to show the options for it's proxy  Big Grin

i'm just wondering if it has some shortcut keys to press for the proxy settings to show without going to the whole process in launching dconf-editor  :-[
