Virtual Box - siringo - 02-14-2014 Hi guys, I'm new to Linux, long time Windows user. Linux Light looks really good, very easy to get around in. I still need to run Windows apps for work. I'm wondering if you have a 'walk through' on how I can install Virtualbox or any other good VM software so I can run up a few Windows machines. The more pictures and hand holding the better ;-) Thanks again. Re: Virtual Box - riser - 02-14-2014 I suggest you follow this video VirtualBox 4.3 Install on Ubuntu Re: Virtual Box - Valtam - 02-15-2014 The Virtualbox installer is available via Menu > System > Install Additional Software > Install Virtualbox. Re: Virtual Box - avj - 02-18-2015 I ran into an odd situation today when I installed Virtualbox on a fresh install of LL2.2. I installed virtualbox from the "Install Additional Software" in the system menu. When I finish installing it says virtualbox can be found in the menu under system. I look and it is not there, so I open Install/Remove Software and type virtualbox in the search box and find that it didn't install the gui. I install the gui "virtualbox-qt", close the package manager and start a backup copy of a virtual machine with win xp on it, and i get an error telling me it can't find the kernel module. After closing virtualbox I reopen the package manager and install "virtualbox-dkms", I was not sure this would fix the problem, but it seems to have worked. I was able to start up my virtual xp and haven't had any problems yet. Hopefully this will help others with this problem. Re: Virtual Box - Scott(0) - 02-19-2015 Hi Siringo, VirtualBox is also convered in the LL user manual: https://www.freecinema2022.gq/manual/software_tutorials.html#vbox |
