[SOLVED] NVIDIA drivers didn't work properly after reboot on Dell Latitude E6410 - n1ksn - 12-02-2015 A side note to the install of LL 2.6 on my Dell Latitude E6410: After a successful install of LL I decided to try the NVIDIA video drivers offered as options under Hardware Drivers. There were four NVIDIA drivers listed, two for version 340.96 and two for version 304.131.  I tried one of each and in each case got strange behaviour on startup:   - The feather boot screen was replaced by a text version "Linux Lite 2.6" with dots below it   - My desktop background was replaced by the xfce mouse one   - The window font sizes changed   - The line for "temp1" went missing in the output for the sensors command (which I use in conky) During boot I saw error messages flash by (stuff about udev and systemd). I changed back to the Linux Xorg driver and all returned to normal, so this is not a big problem for me, but I thought I should report it. My E6410 has a 1440 x 900 screen and lspci gives:  VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [NVS 3100M] (rev a2) For what it's worth.  Andy N1KSN Re: [SOLVED] NVIDIA drivers didn't work properly after reboot on Dell Latitude E6410 - j1r1 - 12-02-2015 Hi, the same with my Dell 6430. I believe the driver does not recognise correctly the primary and secondary display (I use external HDMI screen). Re: [SOLVED] NVIDIA drivers didn't work properly after reboot on Dell Latitude E6410 - n1ksn - 12-03-2015 Jerry, right after taking the screenshot and asking for instructions to post it, I took another look at the NVIDIA selections.  I saw that only one of the four was "tested."  Well, duh!  :-[  I tried that one, and it worked just fine.  This was the 340.96 from nvidia-340.  One of the two I tried yesterday that didn't work well was the 340.96 from nvidia-340-UPDATE, which I assumed was an newer version.  The boot screen is still the text-ish one, but I had also changed the grub menu to set the graphics to "auto" (and can't remember the original setting, which wasn't my 1440 x 900 display resolution).    I can't remember which of the two 304.131 entries I tried yesterday that didn't work.  I am a bit embarrassed that I didn't originally try the tested driver, but I hope this info is of some use to you and your team.  I'll post the screenshot when you tell me how to do it.
