Touchpad Sensitivity - Colin23erk - 11-16-2015

Hello
I find that touching my Touchpad accidentally using Menus and input boxes can cause me all sorts of errors and wrong options being set - leading to frustration when  I was trying to install LL and at other times . I experience problems of the cursor moving after I manage to get it on the correct place if I do not lift my finger straight up .

I doubt if the sensitivity can be adjusted during the setup of LL lite but I hope it can be achieved once LL is being used .

I know how to turn off tapping using the "Mouse and Touchpad" settings app which is prevents accidentally clicking on the wrong option.
But there does not appear to be any method to reduce the sensitivity of the pad to enable me to set it to my preferences.
This option is available in some laptops  using the Windows settings interface .
I suspect it may be dependent on the manufacturers of the pad having drivers that allow the Sensitivity to be adjusted .
Has anyone managed to solve this when using LL

Heres a screen shot of my touchpad settings..
You may want to try disable while typing or if you find that your constantly hitting the pad, you can disable it and opt for a USB mouse.. Some folk prefer a mouse over a touchpad; I've had to set this on few OS's for people..

Thanks for the suggestion . I have that options set up as well as no tapping ,

When I had a desktop I preferred a Track ball and I carried on using it with a laptop on a desk.

Now I use my laptop on my Lap so I made myself covert to using a Touchpad as I find it better to avoid having USB devices plugged in.

I am just evaluating a new laptop  to try to get LL installed . No luck yet getting the Grub menu to see Linux ?

The sensitivity issue of the Touchpad has become an issue because there are no physical Left or Right click buttons - the touchpad rocks to left or right instead . which can result in the cursor being accidentally moved  if your finger moves slightly when the Click buttons are used .

To try to prevent my finger touching the pad surface I put a thin strip of velcro on the edge of the pad area to give it feel as well as avoiding touching the pad. Unfortunately  this has problems because as well as being depressed the touchpad needs my finger to be in contact with its surface . Presumably to avoid getting a click if it is depressed by other than a finger I suspect this is because it converts into a Tablet with (the Touchpad being face downwards)

I am finding that my experience with computers at the moment is that my problems do not have proper Solutions  - they have their own problems  that need another solution etc .

Your problems seems not be the courser moving to fast but that it moves at when slightly brushing the touchpad.

I just read up on this myself so I'm no expert.
Can you give the output for this command:
Code:
xinput --list
