Can't follow install prompts - pelouk - 11-11-2015
I'm trying to install LL2.4 from a disk on an HP Slimline desktop with an Acer monitor.
I seem to have a problem in that the monitor is an older 4:3 format and I cannot see all of the install prompts. It doesn't help either that my mouse won't scroll down and my arrows are not functioning in install mode but I 'm not sure if that's relevant.
Can anyone help, please?

Options in no particular order:
1) Hit your Super key (also known as the Windows key) and type in the word Display to open the Display Settings. Then see if you can mouse over to the Resolution section to change it to something more suitable.
2) Get creative with the tab button to go through the prompts.
3) Put the hard drive in another computer. Install Linux Lite to that hard drive. Then return the hard drive to the original computer.
4) Use a different monitor and/or keyboard for the install.

Thanks for that. Using the super key to change the resolution solved the immediate issue.
Still hitting a wall though. I get as far as the install wizard but when I hit the continue button the little timer starts spinning ......and spinning....and spinning.... Been going like that for a couple of hours now and seems to be stuck there with the "continue" and "back" buttons greyed-out.
Flummoxed again!

You'll have to provide more data on the specs of your computer and monitor. Models numbers, at a minimum, should be provided.
Without that, my guess is you have a hardware issue with your computer, or you need to check that your installation media is sound. For example, whatever download image you used to create your installation disk, you need to make sure that the MD5 checksum matches what Linux Lite says it should be.

I suspect that you are correct about a likely hardware issue. I've tried burning and running both LL2.4 and LL2.6., each giving the same result - i.e hanging on the install wizard.
I have checked both disks on each occasion at the "Check Media" option and have also verified the MD5SUM for both against each ISO file download.

Desk Top
HP Slimline with AMD Athlone, Dual Core 4450, 2.30 GHz.
Running Windows 7 Pro, 32-bit
2.0 GB RAM; 250GB hard drive.
Monitor
Acer AL11511; max resolution 1024 x 768
DVD Drive
Medion GP209
Was set to 2x write speed for ISO download.
I don't know if this will be sufficient to make anything of it but it's probably the limit of my tech capability!Thanks again for taking the time.

Have you tried via a USB? Maybe the dvd drive is issues?
Last thought on media, your installing 32 bit and not 64??

I concur. Try using a USB flash drive for your installation media. The USB flash drive should be at least 2GB in size.

I chose the 32 bit installation because I've been under the impression that I needed more than 2 GB RAM to use 64 bit.
In any event I'll have a look around and learn how to install using USB and give that a shot.

32 bit for 32 bit systems... You mentioned your windows os was 32, checkin the same.. Bios will tell too.

It's easier than you think. If you're using Windows, you can use a tool called Rufus to make a bootable USB. You can see more here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn3XFlZ_xXM
