Cant Transfer Files to USB stick - oxo42 - 11-02-2015
I am trying to get a "png screenshot file" tranfered to a USB stick / no matter what way I try I allways get "Invalid Filename"
I allready have png files on the stick from previous series of LL 1.0.8 , I am now using LL 2.6 but it's just not happening.
USB 2.0
FAT 32
Any Ideas.

If the file name is for example: Screenshot - 11032015 - 03:57:46 AM.png fat32 doesn't know how to deal with it. Rename the file to something lowercase and simple, eg. mypic.png.

Thanks that worked.
Is it only png files that have to be treated this way / or are there other changes in the way we treat various files / from what we did in LL 1.0.8. / or is it because it's FAT 32.

Different filesystems have different requirements. This link (http://www.comentum.com/File-Systems-HFS-FAT-UFS.html) lists the information below for Windows compatibility.
Windows file names compatibility:
- Windows uses two different file systems: File Allocation Table (FAT) file system and New Technology File System (NTFS).
- File and folder names may be up to 255 characters long on FAT file systems and 256 characters long on NTFS. Full pathnames may be up to 260 characters long.
- There is a limit to the full pathnames of 260 characters long.
- Backslash "\" is used as the directory separator.
- File and directory names may not contain the special characters: "/\*?<>|:
- Periods are allowed in file and directory names, but not as the last character. for example "letter.doc" is legal but "letterdoc." is illegal file name.
- Filenames preserves case but are not case sensitive.

Perhaps changing the default screenshot naming format would simplify things for new users migrating from Windows?
A couple of people I've helped convert to LL have asked me similar questions about the same issue.
Changes wouldn't need to be great, simply replacing the colans with hyphens for the time format.

Yes, it's just the colon character causing it in this scenario.
Easiest way around it for now is as Jerry mentioned, renaming the screenshot.
Either after it's saved or you also get the option to rename it when saving.
