Adobe Flash Player - max.scott - 07-16-2015

I continually get a messages on Firefox that my Adobe Flash Player is outdated and I have to "allow" it view certain things on the screen. If I choose to update from the browser (an option), I am asked to choose YUM, tar.gz, .rpm or APT for Ubuntu 10.04 and don't know which to choose. (I'm using LL 10.08.) Saw something on TV news recently that said Adobe Flash was going out of use. Should I try to update from the browser and what should I choose from above choices, or should I just ignore these messages and keep allowing as I do now. Thanks. Max

I changed Firefox to use pepperflash

Alternatively CHROME has it all built in??

The use of pepper flash has been covered in other posts on this forum

this article may be of some use

Most security updates are done as fast as possible, This ofc is assuming you update as soon as possible. Firefox did this for the sake of security for users. And it's perfectly ok. With that said all you need to do is run updates on your system. The newest version of flash is already out for linuxlite users. There is no need currently to manually install flash.

To sum it up, the latest version is 11.2.202.491 and it is already there. Just run updates and it should be all you need to do for now. If there are any major security issues we'll try our best to provide any info on fixes in the future. There is no need to manually install atm, just be sure to run updates. Run Install Updates in the menu regularly, if you have any other questions or concerns tho be sure to ask.

There should be an update out now, if not very soon. Perhaps this would be a good time to move away from Flash as many of the big sites like Youtube and Netflix now use HTML5 for video/sound.

Hello!

Apparently, Firefox doesn't support enough HTML5 to handle Netflix yet. Still need Chrome for now...

I ran the Update in LL, as suggested. Also, I have Chrome installed, but have seldom used it...probably will in the future. Thanks for the help. I've been away from here for a while...it's good to be back. Max

Try adding https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/youtube-all-html5/

I edit my about;config in iceweasel and firefox but the addon does the same as my edits.

Hello!

Tried adding the plugin you mentioned, Rok, to no avail. Still no Netflix on Firefox, so it looks like I'm still stuck with Chrome for now. Netflix is probably saying it isn't compatible just because it's Firefox...
