[SOLVED] Some questions with dual booting - Alex - 02-11-2015 I recently bought a second hand HP laptop, which has Win 7 installed and running OK. I would like to retain Win 7 as I need it for a few non-Linux programs, on the other hand I love using LL for most tasks. So, I am considering having a dual boot machine, hence some questions: 1. Is it recommended that the dual boot be done using easy BCD? As shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dwwSSg-kJM 2. Is it a good idea to retain all banking/payments/ transfers in LL - because it is more secure? 3. How much HD space should I allow for the LL portion? 4. If a virus/malaware happens to infect the Win 7 partition is it likely to contaminate the LL partition? 5. Are there any other problems that a newbie like me should watch out for? Thanks for your help alex Re: Some questions with dual booting - shengchieh - 02-12-2015 (02-11-2015, 10:42 PM)Alex link Wrote: 2. I have a personal disdain for dual-boot simply because I've seen numerous problems people had throughout the years (used linux for 12 years). I favor using an old machine (if you have one). Use it as a linux box and let the new machine be all window. That said, many people successfully dual-boot and have no problem - your choice. As shown in this video: You don't need a third party boot manager, Linux Lite comes with GRUB, this will take care of the dual boot.
