[SOLVED] Saving Settings - cypher000 - 11-22-2014 Hi Thank you all for the help that I have been given to date. It has enhanced my appreciation of LL 2.0. immeasureably. I can now browse the internet with Firefox and enjoying the experience. I have also solved the problems I was having with Thunderbird Mail and am now able to send and recieve mail from Karoo with no bother whatsoever. Sadly I am having to re enter all the data everytime I load LL 2.0 and thats a pain. I remember that years ago when I was using Knoppix 5 I was able to save all my settings on a thumb drive and not have to re enter them every time I boot up. I have a spare thumb drive and am wondering if and how I could do this in LL 2.0.? Could anyone guide me into the details of how to? If I can get these things sorted out I think maybe, before long I would be willing to remove Win XP and replace it with LL 2.0. Re: Saving Settings - colinkx250 - 11-22-2014 Yes you can. I followed a YouTube video swapping peppermint for linuxlite and now i can put my usb thumb drive in any pc and it will load drivers and remember everything I’ve done just like a normal hard drive. Its not too hard to do although it may appear so. I'm assuming that you have not installed LL to the hard drive and that you are only using the live CD right now. A live CD is not writable, so it won't save any changes you have made during the session. Two ways around that are: * Use UNetbootin to create a bootable USB stick with "persistence". Persistence file will allow you to make and save changes to the live USB. (One thing you should not do on live USB w/ persistence is try to run and install system updates. That won't work, so don't do it.)

Re: Saving Settings - N4RPS - 12-22-2014 Hello! Thanks, gold_finger! I have been looking for something like this. It'll be nice to have this, and not have to reinstall when I mess something up! 73 DE N4RPS Rob |
