It didn't seem consistent with the pattern of previous releases I looked at - was expecting 24.04 and noble rather than 22.04 and jammy. Ah! I see what you mean, don't know why that didn't get updated. I'll release a fix. Skype is now a snap too Lite Tweaks glitches - not concerned about those, unless someone would like to submit the changes Re: Linux Lite 7.0 Final Released - sqwuade - 06-03-2024 Yes, shouldn't it be 24.04 "Noble" now? I notice that too Trinidad. Also, Try booting into "Live" mode and running Google Chrome - it doesn't work for me. (06-02-2024, 07:32 AM)stevef link Wrote:Quote:What's the issue in /etc/lsb-release ? Re: Linux Lite 7.0 Final Released - karlheinz - 06-04-2024 Hallo! I never really worried. As I said in a previous post, I already have a backup solution. Anyway, I always disable PPAs that generate errors and from time to time, I retest them. Usually, the problems get solved and I can re-enable them for a long time. No big deal. I noticed that usually when a major OS version is published, this kind of errors appear from time to time. As the usual release time of the major version and the end of life time between the last issue and the current offers enough time, all I need is patience and sometimes some more testing. Since 2012, when I switched to Linux for good, I never had real problems that I could never solve. A glitch here and there, is something normal, as I see it. Anyway, compared to the Windows environment, that caused me tons of headaches, Linux is the "Garden of Eden"! Nothing less!! Now getting some more specific, Linux Lite stands tall for a low footprint on the machine. I can understand the trend of using more and more resources, as the CPU and RAM specs are constantly increasing, but that goes at a certain cost (like in "price" = money) too. As everybody on this Forum could see, I have an old machine, Dell Precision T1700 that I bought as SH, in July 2020: Code: Mobo: Dell model: 048DY8 v: A01 serial: <filter> UEFI: Dell v: A25 and a very old one, ASUS X200MA (2014). As long as the gran'pa ASUS can run a brand-new 2024 OS (Linux Lite 7.0 is a really a brand-new one!), we have something here! I really appreciate it very much! While ASUS is a machine I use when I'm away from home, it's kinda comforting to know I can rely on that for my trips. It's small enough and I can accomodate it in my luggage. Further more, there are lots of people here on the forum that use this kind of machines. A few days ago, a friend of mine came to me and asked me to test some oldies and he said that sometime later this month, wants me to throw a Linux on them. One is a Sony Vayo and the other, a HP. Both are some Dual Core, 2 threads, 4 GB RAM machines. Far better than my ASUS. If the guy keeps his mind, I'll put a report on the Lite HW DB. As anyone can figure out that, for me, the ASUS is kinda reference guide machine. Best regards, Șerban. Re: Linux Lite 7.0 Final Released - Şerban S. - 06-05-2024 Latest updates (on Dell Precision T1700) I switched to the LL 7.0 install (Tray 2 on Delock 47230) and tested the state of the updates list and also the state of the PPA RSA upgrade. Here is the output: ----------------------------- SOURCES UPDATE (OPENSHOT PPA) ----------------------------- Code: Wednesday 05 June 2024, 12:21:15 ----------------------------- SOURCES UPDATE (MOZILLA PPA) ----------------------------- Code: Wednesday 05 June 2024, 12:20:01 ----------------------------- SYSTEM UPDATE: ----------------------------- Code: Wednesday 05 June 2024, 12:10:35 My conclusions to this: 1. I recommend to the less experienced users, to keep using the Linux Lite 6.6, at least as long as the Launchpad is still upgrading the security from RSA1024 to RSA4096. The only thing I can help with this, is to keep you posted with the changes. As I said before, I have two different Linux Lite installations (6.6 and 7.0) and a hot-pluggable Delock 47230 drive unit that allows me to switch from one drive to another very fast. As for the system itself, I can keep posting the package updates as they are available. As you can see, in today's update, a new kernel (linux-image-6.8.0-35-generic) has been installed and some other packages. 2. As for the ones that want to go with Linux Lite 7.0, I offered in the previous posts in this thread the solution for the Mozilla Thunderbird packages. https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/release-announcements/linux-lite-7-0-final-released/msg62235/#msg62235 The "Fixing the Update Errors" section.
