Thats done it for me, CPU load on home page now around 10%. The news block displays just as you showed it.
Thanks you, I can now keep the home page open as long as needed.

In Chrome you can have multiple tabs open.
It maybe one of the "other" tabs could be sucking cpu cycles??

In Chrome goto Menu > More Tools > Task Manager
see what Chrome is doing with it's own built in Task Manager

I can see the news, I do have a couple of addins, my CPU usage for chrome is 1~3%

I guess it is appropriate to mark this as SOLVED, since the problem was cured by Jerry's mod to the forum News panel. However, I do not see the 'Mark as Solved' link at the bottom of the thread (using the forum Curve theme). Maybe someone else could please mark the topic as SOLVED.

A few days ago, I couldn't find the "Topic Solved" link either.  In the meantime, I just marked which response was the Best Answer.  That might help others who come across this thread.
