Re: Backup software for LL2 - Tony Gamble - 10-18-2014 "both of my options are for data files only" Not what I am looking for. I want a full system recovery. "Deja Dup" Again not what I want I think. Sorry. Tony Re: Backup software for LL2 - AL13N - 10-19-2014 For "a full system recovery" I can recommend Clonezilla. I've successfully used Clonezilla Live from a USB stick on numerous occasions. Re: Backup software for LL2 - Tony Gamble - 10-19-2014 Thanks. Clonezilla looks just the job. Tony Re: Backup software for LL2 - Wirezfree - 10-19-2014 Hi, A useful thing to have on a spare "boot stick" is: "boot-repair" http://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair/home/Home/ Early this year, in my early LInux days I was unable to boot after trying to restore an image, Not sure what I had done, can't remember if it was after using Redo or Clonezilla.?? Anyway, a quick google pointed me to repair-boot, ran it and it fixed it. Dave Re: Backup software for LL2 - Scott(0) - 10-19-2014 @Wirezfree Have to give a vote for boot-repair, it saved me once. This is especially helpful when multiple operating systems reside on the drive. You can install both Redo and boot-repair on a multiboot USB stick... 73 DE N4RPS Rob Re: Backup software for LL2 - Tony Gamble - 10-20-2014 Thanks. How do you create your multi boot USB stick? I found this website but the downloader seems to be hidden or broken. http://www.sarducd.it/ Is this the solution? http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/ Tony Re: Backup software for LL2 - Wirezfree - 10-20-2014 (10-20-2014, 11:05 AM)Tony Gamble link Wrote: Thanks. Hi, I have only used the YUMI option. Download it to somewhere you want, it's just an exe to run, NO install. Run it, and slection the option you want. If it's a new stick, select format the first time you use it. Select either a distro/iso from the list, or select unlisted(Syslinux) if you have the ISO's stored local. Then proceed. When it's finished, select NEXT It will ask if you want to add another Distro/ISO Select YES Repeat, but do not select the Format option. If you now put the stick in your PC/Laptop and boot from it, You will get an option to Boot from 1st HD or from the Distros/ISO's that you just added. It's harder to explain than work through doing it. Dave Re: Backup software for LL2 - Tony Gamble - 10-20-2014 Thanks, And boot- repair is added like another .iso I assume. Tony |
