Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - bitsnpcs - 03-23-2017 I have etcher working correctly, it is very quick, it does suffer with a disappearing icon in menu issue, but it did not stop it working by clicking the text in the menu, after which the icon reappears for a while. Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - LL-user - 03-23-2017 Hi Javier, If I'm not mistaken you'd need to install UNetbootin via a ppa - in case you want to give it a go. Hope that helps ![]() Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - javier_mina - 03-23-2017 Hello everyone, I very much appreciate your continuing support. Yes, I have run md5sum and the checksum hash on my downloaded file matched the checksum on the Linux Lite download page. I had run the disk utility and unetbootin several times, but to no avail. I suspect that there may be some sort of limitation in Linux Lite 1.06 that is causing the problem. i will be back off travel in two weeks and can use my Windows 10 machine to create a bootable disk for this box. Perhaps that may work. I just hate the thought of maybe having to brick my little Acer. Best regards, Steve Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - LL-user - 03-24-2017 Hi Steve, Really scratching my head about this one... Have you considered giving the dd command (see manual) a try? I can't see any reason why LL 1.06 itself would prevent it from working properly. Just in case you can't wait the two weeks... ![]() Otherwise, safe trip & hang in there ![]() Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - javier_mina - 03-24-2017 Thanks LL user. Yes, I had tried the dd command but that live USB would not boot either. Thanks also to Jerry and others for their support. Problem not solved but I am not giving up. Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - firenice03 - 03-24-2017 Just a thought... Have you tried another USB stick? Perhaps this one is failing or check if its set up as a GPT vs MRB boot partition. I would try a 4gb stick or larger.. Its a shot... ??? Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - javier_mina - 03-24-2017 Thanks for the thought. I have been using an 8gb stick. I will check the partition. Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - firenice03 - 03-24-2017 You want it to be MRB, even though its an 8gb see if you can format it to FAT (not FAT32) it may help; if not you may need to try a 4gb (or 2gb).. Here's some additional info in regard to the errors along with options to try to type in... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-mint-84/trying-to-boot-linux-mint-9-from-usb-flash-drive-vesamenu-c32-not-a-com32r-image-829397/ Re: Problems upgrading to LL 3.2 - LL-user - 03-25-2017 Hi Steve, If you really want to go into the deep end, you might even consider installing a bootloader manually on your USB stick after formatting it with the partition(s)/filesystems you want. I've done some extensive tests some time ago and enjoy having solutions on hand that allow me booting more than one distribution from that little USB stick I've got in my wallet. And whenever possible I directly boot from the ISO files that are all nicely placed in a sub directory. So, if you're bored, there would be lots to play around with ![]() But I suggest, better enjoy your travels ![]() |
