How does this work in Windows MarkZ?

Re: Linux Lite 2.8 Suggestion Thread - torreydale - 01-13-2016

In Windows, you highlight the filename, wait half a second, and then click the filename again.  The filename will then be highlighted as if it's waiting to be renamed.

I use single click in Linux Lite, so this probably wouldn't work for me.

Re: Linux Lite 2.8 Suggestion Thread - Valtam - 01-13-2016

The same time could be spent clicking on the file once and hitting F2, and guarantees to work each time. Single clicking, then repeating that process requires some precision and I'm sure some folks have not got the timing right and accidentally double clicked, doesn't seem efficient. Either way, this is something that the Thunar devs would have to add as a feature.

Or you could just right click and hit the "R" key.

I agree with Jerry.  Before the winter of 2014, I'd been a Windows only user for more than a decade, and I just found out about the "quick rename" option last year.  I don't think not knowing it cost me much time.  Oftentimes, I found myself waiting for Windows to catch up to ME.  It was the constant waiting for Windows memory or CPU usage to subside that made me pay attention when I was exposed to the benefits of using Linux as a desktop OS.

Is this a good idea?

Given that many people use their web browser to learn and use/copy&paste terminal commands, is it convenient to have a tab that acts as a terminal?

More details here - http://www.tecmint.com/shell-in-a-box-a-web-based-ssh-terminal-to-access-remote-linux-servers/

It is secure, and not accessible from the outside unless you open that particular port on your router, which I doubt people would be stupid enough to do.

For me, thinking on the local system.. I liked at 1st (thinking it could be cool).. Then I thought about it - I'm not great with command line, especially Linux commands (I'm learning) so I almost always have a browser open or doc of sorts that I'm looking at either copy and pasting or retyping.. So I'm looking at both the terminal and the webpage (possibly reading whats next) kinda side by side... One could use with 2 browser windows I suppose; but not sure on the tab/tab switching...

Now something to connect to a remote systems (same network) - interest is peaking Smile
example I can run a command to multiple LL systems from 1 (installing an app I want on both or updates etc.)

Just my thoughts....

@firenice03

If you mean you just want to do terminal stuff/commands take a look at my SSH Post
This is from my main PC to my other 5 PC's (I know, get a life):

I'm going to try something like Terminator at some point

@jerry hope you don't mind semi off topic comment

@Wirezfree - yeah that's what I was thinking  8) - but I only have the 2 LL systems, thus far...
That and I'd need a browser sitting next to it with what commands are next LOL  Tongue

O.K, something for the future... Smile
