Slow boot time with new SSD - bermudalite - 07-05-2018 Hey Jerry, I took your advice and bought a new SSD. I even bumped up RAM to a whopping 3GB. : ![]() However boot time is still sloooooooooooooow! Re: Slow boot time with new SSD - charvie - 07-05-2018 bermudalite Check your kernel version. Can be done easily going Menu->System->System Info->Operating System. If it is Linux 4.15.0-24 generic you maybe having the same problem as me. If it is as mentioned above after the boot splash screen with whirling thing, move your mouse around and see what happens. Re: Slow boot time with new SSD - Valtam - 07-05-2018 I moved this to it's own thread as your SSD is new. Will you be running VirtualBox? Re: Slow boot time with new SSD - bermudalite - 07-05-2018 Thx Charvie...I'll check that out. Jerry...no, vbox will not be used on this machine. Re: Slow boot time with new SSD - bermudalite - 07-06-2018 Charvie, my kernel is 4.15.0-23 generic. What should it be? Re: Slow boot time with new SSD - charvie - 07-06-2018 That kernel is NOT the one causing trouble. The -24 is causing slow boot-ups. So your trouble is something else. Sorry I couldn't help but it was worth a try. If you are not going to use vbox, try following Jerry's instructions he gave at the bottom of the Linux Lite 4.0 Final Release Announcement message (Performance Tips ![]() https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/release-announcements/linux-lite-4-0-final-released/ Re: Slow boot time with new SSD - m654321 - 07-06-2018 (07-06-2018, 01:51 AM)charvie link Wrote: If you are not going to use vbox, try following Jerry's instructions he gave at the bottom of the Linux Lite 4.0 Final Release Announcement message (Performance Tips Definitely try what charvie suggested above. It speeded up boot very significantly from around 40 seconds to 13 seconds on the i7 laptop in setup (1), listed in signature below. Re: Slow boot time with new SSD - bermudalite - 07-06-2018 That worked! 5 minute boot down to 30 seconds!!! Thanks!
