Hi guys. So I have a wifi USB adapter on a desktop running Linux Lite 3.6. It's drivers are installed correctly and I can find and log into our WiFi network. But once I am in, the Internet will only work for about 2 seconds (browser will load a website for about 2 seconds and then it will stop and say no Internet). But the wifi signal shows as being strong and the connection stays connected the whole time. Despite that Internet appears to only work immediately after I disconnect and reconnect (for about 2 seconds after reconecting).

The USB adapter is Linksys N300 (which uses Broadcom bcm 43235). I installed it's Windows XP drivers via ndiswrapper, it's the same driver I used on Linux MX before and it worked fine for it. So I don't think it's a driver issue, but could be wrong of course. This my first time really trying Linux seriously. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I like Lite way more then MX and don't really want to go back to it.

post the output of

sudo lshw -class network

it can be power saving mode cutting off USB.

Also to look here and check if it is the same method you used (all steps) ?

I should add that I am able to connect to nearby hotels wifi, but it's just one of those web pages with a login, but I can click around on it (see terms and conditions, etc.). So maybe it's some kind of security setting causing the issue? Since connecting to hotels login page doesn't require any kind of password/username.

Before trying the ndiswrapper. If it was available...
Did you plug the computer with an ethernet cable and do the updates, reboot, and do a driver scan?
This solved many problem for me on Linux Lite and other unmentionnable commercial OS. Wink

The router normally just works with the password. Do I need to manually assign it's id in the settings somewhere as well?

You don't say which browser you're using but I had a somewhat similar experience a few days ago with Firefox interfering with my attempts to configure a DSL router. This behaviour turned out to be due to a new feature in a recent update known as captive portal detection. It seems this feature is supposed to make use of wifi APs with logins easier, but it might be worth finding out more about it if you use Firefox. I had to disable it to complete my router configuration...
